COVID-19 Information


As we continue to balance staff safety with patient care, we are currently not permitting clients into the hospital. For all appointments, the side door is still being used for check-in and pick-up. On a case-by-case basis, we may still allow clients into the hospital for services such as euthanasia.

If you need to check-in or pick-up (food, medication, or pets), please come to the second level of the Jefferson Square garage where our hospital’s parking is located. Call our front desk upon arrival to coordinate payment and a staff member will then meet you at your vehicle.

West Seattle Animal Hospital is still providing essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Changes to mandates and best-practice recommendations are evolving rapidly. We are adjusting as quickly as we can in order to keep you and our employees safe.

We are practicing physical distancing and are therefore limiting human visitors to the hospital. Unless you are picking up food, medication or medical supplies, our front lobby is closed. All patients will be admitted and released by meeting a nurse at the side door of the hospital in the parking garage. When you arrive for your appointment, please call us on your cell phone. While your pet is in the hospital, we will communicate with you by phone.

If you are picking up pet food or medication, please enter through our front door as usual. Please maintain six feet of distance between you and our staff whenever possible.

If you are disabled or have special needs, please let us know and we will find a way to accommodate you. We will allow visitors inside the hospital on a case-by-case basis for services such as euthanasia.

If you feel ill or are experiencing fever or respiratory symptoms, we respectfully ask that you stay home. If you have a friend or family member who can come to WSAH on your behalf, we will communicate directly with you via phone.

We are prioritizing our appointment slots for pets who are sick, injured or who otherwise need medical care. We are still performing dentistry and surgery, although we are only scheduling several days at a time in advance due to shifting guidelines and more staff absences than are customary. Wellness exams and vaccine appointments are available on a same-day only basis as time/staffing allows (with exceptions for puppies/kittens who are in a series where timing is essential). We have temporarily ceased cat boarding and grooming services that are not medically necessary.

We are masked, gloved and doing our best to balance the safety of humans with the needs of your pets. We appreciate your patience during this challenging time.
